What I Thought of AntiGravity Aerial Yoga Class! (Review)
My First Aerial Yoga Experience!
When I arrived at the studio, very relaxing music immediately soothed my ears. It was not the music that typically plays during yoga classes. It wasn't meditative! Although I like to meditate once in a while, such music does nothing for me when I am practicing yoga. It's just weird for me to listen to it while doing yoga because all I want to do is fall asleep during practice. Haha!
As I was signing papers that pretty much said that they would not be responsible if I fell on my head (LOL), I kept staring at the inside of the studio where a class was coming to an end. Each girl was wrapped in a hammock like in a cocoon, and I could not wait to experience the same!
At the beginning of the class, the instructor came up to each of us and set our hammocks specifically for our height.
She Turned on the Music and it Began
Since it was everyone's first aerial yoga class, the instructor took it slow and easy. This gave enough time to feel less awkward about trying to get comfortable in the hammock or pretty much move at all. As time went on, I felt more and more comfortable in my hammock. It honestly felt amazing to do moves with its help! It was not easy, but it felt great to be able to nail some moves.
Now it was Time for Inversions!
We did two inversions during the class. My favorite was the one that I am pictured in below. Of course, I forgot the name for it, but hopefully, I will learn the names of poses as I take more classes. I thought I would not be able to do it because it seemed so complicated. However, the instructor led us through each step, and BAM, I was hanging upside down!
I felt amazing and strong after accomplishing this inversion! Some girls felt a little dizzy, so the instructor offered them a mint, which typically helps with dizziness.
I loved every minute of this class! After it was over, we stayed in our hammock cocoon for a few minutes, and I honestly did not want it to end. AntiGravity Aerial Yoga is a fantastic practice, which not only relaxes your mind and body but also empowers you!
You should keep in mind that these types of classes are not the cheapest. The Swet Studio in Boston offers a discount for first-time participants. You pay $30 for one class, and get the second class free. I think it is a great deal! I still have one class to go to before I decide if I am going to purchase a membership. I know that I would love to continue going to these class. Now it is just a matter of saving up money for them. Poor graduate school problems. Haha!
